Brazil lives from lack of water crisis

While observing our reservoirs dry before the worst drought crisis in history , the Greater São Paulo accounts under the earth a volume of unused water would be enough to power about 1.8 million people .
Strains of the second study ( Centre for Groundwater Research ) of the Institute of Geosciences of USP ( University of São Paulo ) , the aquifers in the metropolitan area have the capacity to produce up to 16,000 liters of water per second , but 40 % of resources are not availed .
The calculations point to the existence today of approximately 12 000 private wells in operation in the region , about 60 % illegal , exiting the aquifer about 10 liters per second to supply predominantly industries , condominiums , hotels , hospitals and clubs, among others.
With a difference of 6000 liters per second that are " stranded " in the basement , it would be possible to supply together the populations of Guarulhos and Maua , cities that have enacted rationing due to drought in Cantareira Systems and Alto Tietê . Every thousand liters per second supply 300 000 inhabitants .
If it were fully utilized , the underground reservoir would be the second largest source of São Paulo , ahead of the Alto Tietê Systems ( 15 000 l / s ) and Guarapiranga ( 14 000 l / s ) and behind only Cantareira , which has a capacity to produce 33,000 liters per second , but currently operates with 21 thousand liters per second.
